  1. Thx Guys. I guess they need more food then
  2. Have theese two beggars to show you guys The Black girl is called Shirley and the Orange/White Male is called Ellemand. They are in their own tank for now, since they are both fin nippers. Ellemand is a real bully, but i hope he grows out of it So far theese two seem to like eachother and dont fight much. Anyway, here they are
  3. Hi Guys. Sadly i had to put Tvilsen to sleep yesterday. She no longer had the strenght to recover and dropsy was coming back, once again. Rest in Peace my sweet sweet baby Tvilsen <3
  4. Tvilsen was treated for 3 weeks with metro meds and looks better. She is now in the main tank, but very tired. I doubt she will live much longer, but will post whatever happens. Thx for your help Guys.
  5. Well, Tvilsen had a relapse after only a few days. I have put her back in QT tubm added Epsom and startet using the Metromeds i have. The alternative is euthanizing her, so she deserves a chance. She seems happy and is eating very good. Im hoping for the best, but is preparing for the worst. My facination with goldfish started with her, 11½ years ago.
  6. Tvilsen just got back in the main tank hours ago. She looks better, but is still very tired. But she is an old girl, so that is to be expected i guess. Any more time with her is greatly appreciated <3 Thx for your help Guys
  7. Im on day 7 now and think the swelling have gone down some. I will continue then
  8. So far they have not Im keeping the Nitrit and Ammonia on 0. For how long should i use the Epsom? A week?
  9. QT Tank with cycled filter. Water is fine so far.
  10. Then I would suggest testing for ammonia and nitrite daily and doing water changes as necessary to keep levels at zero. Thx, I will do that. Thats the way i usually do it if the filter is uncycled. Btw does Metronidazole & Tri-Sulfa hurt the filter bacteria?
  11. Thx a lot Guys. I have begun the treatment, but have no Prim. Nor can i get some in time
  12. Let me see if i understand you correctly fantailfan1. Day 1 - Fresh water, both meds (dose as stated on label) Day 2 - Do nothing. Day 3 - 100% WC and add both meds again. Day 4 - Do nothing ....And repeat for at least 14 days? I left out Prime, since the water in Denmark dont require it. Unless you add it for other reasons? Are the meds rough on an old girl like Miss Tvilsen? Should i Watch out for something?
  13. In Denmark there is no chlorine in the Water, so we dont use Prime. Do that change your instructions? I have boths meds. Will you add it to the Water instead of in food? What do you mean by "You'll want to take that out at least 14 days" ? Thx

  15. Hi All. My awesome fantail Tvilsen, is sick with dropsy, once again. I would like your opinion about what i should do? Background info. Tvilsen is 11½ years old and have had dropsy 3 times before. First time was August 2010: http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/index.php?/topic/85516-stubborn-popeye/ Last time was August this 2014, not long ago Every time i cured it with antibiotic food and epsom salt. She has some swim bladder disease and that makes her lobsided and light in the Water. But she seems happy and are eating fine. I can tell she is getting old though. Status. She is showing dropsy signs, light pineconing and swollen eyes. I have moved her to QT tub and raised temp slowly to 27 celcius and added Epsom salt. But should i medicate her? (for what?) I have 1+ year old metro meds (worked in August), seachem metronidazole, seachem kanaplex and other meds. Also i have Repashy gel food mix on hand. Hopefully it is not her time yet, but i know she is not young any more. She have been with me since the beginning. Thoughts anyone? Jesper/Guldklumpen
  16. Thx Alex. This helps me calm Down For years now i have had a plan for sick fish, and now i have none, that bugs me. I am actually worried about getting new fish because of this (and worried that they would bully my 11+ year old Tvilsen) Knowing Koko's, Helen and You helps a lot,....Thank you Guys. One question....What is the bucket to bucket method?
  17. I hope so too, but so far most of my fish have been sick at one time or another. That is why i try to prepare, no matter the cost. I allways treat sick fish in my 60 liter QT tub, but appreciate the warning very much
  18. Thank you very much, but i bought the more known (to me) brand API instead http://www.apifishcare.com/product.php?id=639#.VGRkcGx0ywk Maybe if the time comes, i can make medicated gelfood with above mentioned medicines and Repashy Gelfood powder? My goldies love Repashy gelfood. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Repashy-Soilent-Green-Superfood-6-oz-Jar-/251716278501?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a9b7598e5
  19. Awesome, thx I have ordered seachem kanaplex + Metronidazole, and found this tri sulfa: http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Quality-Fish-Aquatic-Cotrimoxazole-Sulfa-Tri-480-mg-50-tablets-FREE-SHIP-/351147930982?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51c20c3566 Does that Tri sulfa look right?
  20. Allright But i should buy Kanaplex, Tri sulfa and Metronidazole to have in stock then? Anithing else?
  21. Allright then. What typically happens are i notice scales are pineconing, in case of dropsy, and i fetch my 60 liter tub. And arrange with filter and heater, slowly raising temp to about 27 celcius and add epsom. Then i would feed 1% of bodyweight Metromeds exclusively for 14 days. After 1 week the wc's will get rid of epsom and after 14 days i will lower temp, slowly to match main tank. The the patient will then be released back, if healthy. But how to administer pure metronidazole, i dont know? And i hate not being prepared for it, like if it happenes during a time where i cant contact you?
  22. Yeah, goldfish connection dont sell any more MM. I can get metronidazole powder on ebay, but how would you use it in case of dropsy? MM was more than Metronidazole right?
