  1. I am setting up my 30 gallon and am hoping to put a bubble curtain in. I have had a bubbler for a long time and recently bought an airstone bubble wall. . I want to put it in my tank but it is SO loud!! Is there something you guys do to make yours not rattle against the bottom and make so much noise? I have great air circulation already but I'd still like to put in an air stone so any help would be awesome. I assume you put it under the gravel but is there any thing special anyone does? Thanks!
  2. I lost both of them a few days ago. I am doing a total tank cleaning atm. Bleaching the tank and cleaning all of the decorations and everything. I still have the bio-wheels in use so I don't loose my cycle. I am going to set up my tank in a few days and let it run awhile befor I go buy any new fish. I'm still quite upset so taking down the tank was really hard for me. Thanks for your help everyone.
  3. I'm posative they are beyond saving. I trust my LFS and am going to take their word for it.
  4. A few months ago I got 2 ryukin's from a LFS. After a month of QT, I introduced them to my main tank. I already had a pearl scale in the main tank, and shortly after I added the new guys; things went down hill. I started noticing that my 1 ryukin was not doing well, and he died shortly after. Then the other 2 got all the same syptoms and the other ryukin died. I then took a water sample and took the water sample and the dead fish to a different LFS and after looking at everything, they informed me that with all the symptoms, they informed me that my fish have TB. So now I have to freeze my pearl scale and TOTALLY clean out my tank and start fresh. Ugh.
  5. When i was on Kijiji looking for a new tank, I saw this add; http://london.kijiji.ca/c-pets-accessories-small-gold-fish-bowl-cricket-keeper-or-double-Betta-tank-W0QQAdIdZ198134037 It made me want to bang my head off a desk.
  6. I agree with everyone else. Do not use screws! If I make anything for my turtle or goldies, I always use large plastic zip ties. Just make sure you clip them right up to the end so there are no ends sticking out. Thoughs things are SHARP! I find that alot of wood can also leech things into the tank so make sure you get wood specifically made and treated for aquariums.
  7. It really upset me. Especially because they have been so good in the past. I'm actually going to write a 'Letter To The Editor' and send it to my local news paper, it made me so angry. I just don't feel as though all thoughs angry little emoticons got my point across.
  8. Thank's for your help but the little guy passed away... RIP Picasso.
  9. [*]Water temperature? 69. [*]Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 30. Running for just over a year. [*]What is the name and size of the filter(s)?: Penguin 350 Dual Bio-Wheel Filter [*]How often do you change the water and how much?: once a week, 30% [*]How many fish in the tank and their size? 3. pearlscale is about 2" (not uncluding tail) and both Ryukins are about 4" (not including tail) [*]What kind of water additives or conditioners?: Big Al's water conditioner and Cycle every day. [*]What do you feed your fish and how often?: Tetra Flakes (soaked in water). Once a day. [*]Any new fish added to the tank?: Not since a month ago. [*]Any medications added to the tank?: No. [*]Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus?: The fish I am concerned about has frayed fins, looks someone fuzzy, clamped fins, sunken eyes, sunken belly, bottom sitting, breathing heavily, only breathing with 1 gill and only using 1 fin. A month ago I added 2 new ryukins to my 30 gallon tank (after QT obviously) both were healthy and perfectly fine. After QT, I added them to the tank. Everything was fine until yesterday when my tank seam split/ By the time I realized it, all fish were gasping for air and there was hardly any water left in their tank. I was advised to put them in a rubbermaid until I could fix the tank. Later that day I fixed the tank and today my boyfriend took me to Big Al's and suprised me by buying me all new decorations. Fake plants, gravel and a pack of cartridges. Since everything with my tank happened, my one ryuking has been bottom sitting and today when i put them back in the tank i noticed he looked terribly ill. Sunken eyes, torn fins, sunken belly, gasping for air. He was only breathing with his right gill and would not use his left fin when swimming. (causing him to swim in circles.) His dorsal is clamped and he has red sores all over. Obviously I was freaking out so I ran to grab my test kit. It is now obvious that luck is NOT on my side; I am out of test strips. I have no clue what is wrong with him. The other 2 fish are perfectly fine. Swimming happily, erect fins, breathing normal, gills are fine, eating normal. Can anyone tell me what in the world is wrong? I am starting to think that maybe he doesn't HAVE anything and that he is just sick. A short while ago he began floating in the corner so I removed him and put him in a seperate tank because Elvis was beginning to nibble on him. He is still laying in the corner on his side; I don't think he has much longer. Can anyone tell me what I can do to save this little guy??
  10. I got them in and set up. Elvis seems fine, Hikaru is darting around a bit and Picaso is sitting nose down on the bottom with his dorsal fin clamped. I left the lights off downstairs for now to keep stress minimul.
  11. Okay, so I will clean the bucket and then put them in it. Should I clean the bucket with white vinegar first or just scrub it with hot water?? So because I have the bio-wheels, the tank will be instantly cycled when I fix it and put the filter back in it?
  12. I don't have gravel, but I have some river stones that were in my tank before? Will thoughs work just as well? The only thing I can think of to use to cover the bucket is a place mat. I can cut a space out of it to fit the filter in.
  13. I found a large plastic bucket I can put them in? It's about... maybe 20 gallons? So I should take the filter cartridges out of my filter and put the filter in the bucket with just the biowheels in it?
  14. I have no car and I live in the country. I'm so screwed.
  15. I don't have a large rubbermaid tub I could put them in...
