  1. How long did your order take to arrive Claire?? Sarah I need to pm you but can't get it to work, I thought it might be the pop-up blocker but even with that disabled it still isn't working, if you're able to pm me can you send me your email address please. I do an order each year as that is how long the shelf life on the meds is.
  2. The first 1ml made no noticeable difference. I was up to 6ml before I left for work and that had increased it from about 100 to 120ish. I will carry on when I get home as well as gving him a 30% water change so he has nice fresh water, assuming he is still with us
  3. Thanks Lupin. After the third shop I finally managed to get some calcium chloride and have added a very low dose first to see how much it changes the hardness.
  4. Rusty was no worse this morning or now and still only has it down one side and it hasn't reached his gills on that side. I gave him three pieces of medigold this morning and another three just now which once nudged in the right direction he ate up no problems. I am off now now to see if I can find some calcium chloride at any of the local aquatic shops to help him with his osmoregulation
  5. Sorry you are also having fish problems, hopefully you will get it beaten.
  6. Thanks Sue, I just didn't want to overload his system if his kidneys were alreay under stress shich I think is often what happens with dropsy but seeing as i don't have mnay options I will maybe just not feed him to much. I also think there must be something at the route of the probelm causing the dropsy but just ahev no idea what, other than Rusty the other two were fine right up until they pineconed?
  7. Thanks Lupin What do you think about feeding Rusty medigold, it contains an ingredient kanamycin which isn't suppose to be good with dropsy as it can be a nephrotoxic, not sure what I should do as I don't have anything else to give him but don't want to put even more pressure on his kidneys?
  8. Thanks for the support and the kind offer Sue I do have PP but at this point I don't think I could rehome everything while I do it so it would be a proper thorough job. I have metromeds, prazi and medigold on order from Fish Sempai but it could be up to a month before they get here. I have also found a posting somewhere else that says adding calcuim chloride can help even more than epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) in redusing the effort needed for osmoregualtion by increasing GH (my GH is very low which might be why my fish die from dropsy so fast), now I just have to find somewhere local that stocks it.
  9. Water Test Readings: -Ammonia= 0 -NitrIte= 0 -NitrAte= 0 -pH= 7.8 -KH= 78 -GH= 120 -Water Temperature: 65F -Tank size= 120 gallons -Filtration (Make, and GPH) Eheim external 2078 (488gph), Eheim external 2224 (132gph), eheim aquaball internal (132gph) -Is there gravel/sand/rocks in the tank? If so how deep? gravel, less than 1 inch -Tank Inhabitants (How many, how big?): 12 fancy goldfish ( 3 at 4 inch bodies, 3 at 3 inch bodies and the rest 2-2.5 inches)and one albino BN plec at about 3 inches -How long the tank has been set up: just over a year -Frequency and amount of routine water changes: 40-50% weekly -What you feed them, how much, & how often: fed alittle 1-2 times a day, progold, hikari saki, algea tabs, peas, prawns, gel food -City or well water: city -Water conditioner used: API stress coat -any extras (i.e.; air pumps, and air stones?) air stone -New fish or plants added to the tank? What type and when? Were they quarantined?: 2 new fish added yesterday when Mokey was moved to QT they were moved out but Rusty was lethargic before that -Medications used: Tank was prevously treated with Wormer plus due to one of the fish head standing and though to be possibel flukes -Describe the problems you are seeing: Rusty is often lazing on the bottom on the tank and now has dropsy down hir right side. Unbelievable, now Rusty has got dropsy : : I guess there must be something nasty in the tank but I have no idea what as no-one else is showing any signs of anything and neither Wembley or Mokey showed any signs of being unwell before pineconing :???: Rusty is now in the QT tank which I have cleaned out since Mokey was in there and stolen fresh media out of the externals on the main tank, he is salted and the temp is gradually increasing. So far it is only down one side and he is still eating, just hope he is still alive when I get home from work in the morning, his gills are still a nice bright red so he hasn't got chronic organ faliure yet The main tank looks so empty without him bustling about :
  10. Thanks for all the advice but unfortunaly Mokey didn't make it through the night.
  11. Sorry to hear you are having such ongoing issues. I don't really have any advice but wanted to offer some moral support

To reduce postage costs does anyone else want anything and I will order it all, have it sent to me and then post it on. I also don't tend to get through a whole pot of any of the medications so if someone wants to go halves on an 8oz pot let me know. Below is what I can order at present day currency conversion but NOT INCLUDING POSTAGE COSTS Metromeds 8oz ?8.59 Medigold 8oz ?8.59 Jumpstart 8oz ?8.02 Praziquantel 25g ?28.99 Mediworm 8oz ?8.59 Progold 2 pound bag ?17.20 Progold 8oz bag ?5.73 Or in bundles Metromeds & Prazi & medigold ?43 Metromeds & Jumpstart ?14.33 Metromeds & Prazi ?36.12 Medigold & Prazi 25g ?36.12 Medigold & Jumpstart ?14.33 If people can let me know if they are interested by Friday 4th December I can contact Sempai and get a quote for postage and then people can confirm if they are happy with the postage, obviously the more people the less the postage will be.
  13. Thanks for all the advice Sue I live in the UK and only have Medigold so that will have to do. I am going to do a 30% water change now and then treat the tank with the epsom salt and start raising the temp. She is still alert and is hovering slightly above the bottom of the breeding trap so I hope she will pull through. I have just had a good look at her and noticed she seems to have a section that looks like it is internally brusied at the back on her left, I would hazard a guess this is not a good sign and probably what is causing the dropsy.
  14. [*]Test Results for the Following: [*]Ammonia Level?0ppm [*]Nitrite Level?0ppm [*]Nitrate level?0ppm [*]Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)? 7.8 [*]Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)?7.6 [*]Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops?API master [*]Water temperature? 70F [*]Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 80 litre QT tank [*]What is the name and size of the filter(s)? trickle filter, 2 x internal filters My poor little Mokey has dropsy : I have moved her into the QT tank and moved Snufkin and Huxley into the main tank. She is in the breeding trap so I can keep a close eye on her. She is eating her medicated food as soon as it goes in but she is very lethargic. I have epsom salt but am not sure what the dose is? Should I be raising the temperature as well? Fingers crossed she can pull through but it isn't looking great as she is more pineconed than she was this morning. [*]How often do you change the water and how much? 50% daily [*]How many fish in the tank and their size? just Mokey, 5 inches [*]What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime [*]What do you feed your fish and how often? Progold, now on Medigold [*]Any new fish added to the tank? No [*]Any medications added to the tank? Epsom salt [*]Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Prineconed [*]Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? very lethagic but still eating
  15. This is Jenny's (jennybugs) picture although obviously you will need to check with her if it is ok to use it http://i12.photobuck.../DSCF1941-1.jpg
  16. Here is my big guy Rusty with his mouth open and Orinoco if they are of any use. But the best oranda with an open mouth picture belongs to Jennybugs and won one of the photo contests recently. And Orinoco
  17. It sounds like a clearseal tank which have the same thing but so you can put a condensation tray on the sills and it sit beneath the light . If it is the same you shouldn't have any trouble using a canister/external filter. I have two on my big tank with one on each end but putting just one with the intake on one end the the outlet on the far side shouldn't be a problem you just need hosing long enough to reach. I have eheim filters which I love but I know other people who have the big fluvals and the Rena externals and most seem to be good but new they are all very expensive.
  18. I have used PP to disinfect tanks and anything that I could I also put in boiling water, like the bogwood and ceramic filter media (guessing this is what your bio stars are?) etc as an extra precaution. So sorry about Muddy and Bartleby
  19. So sorry about Lelu and hope everyone perks up soon, it is so upsetting when you don't know what is causing it.
  20. My redcap lionhead has been gradually loosing her red cap but I don't think it is anything to worry about just one of those things. This is her when I got her And this is her 6 months later
  21. I have loads of anubis and although the roots have grown they never actually seem to anchor to the wood so I just have to replace the thread I used every so often once it has rotted and give the roots alittle trim every so often.
  22. I'm alittle confused Hidr, the filter in the link is a Rena xp ???? I got one with my main tank second hand, I can't remember if it was a xp2 or xp3, but I didn't like it as much as the eheim canister filters I use although it did have good capacity for media.
