  1. triple sulfa? I think i might have some ..just got to check the expiration date..thanks
  2. Its so hard to get him still but here are some new angles. That side seems like its healing up HOWEVER while I was taking these.. another red bump seems to have emerged from the other side. I've added another tsp of aquarium salt to the tank (forgot to add it back after the wc yesterday) His poop starts out stringy white then turns thick and regular food color. Sometimes he'll poop for awhile maybe he is constipated =( maybe I should replace his meals with peas His getting better side.. Looks like theres a new red bump in his belly area ;( Top view
  3. Update 12.16.15 He's all better now The other day, some white pus-like stuff came out of his "pimple" From afar I thought it was fungus cause it looked a little furry but it was dead skin upon further inspection. After that the bump deflated and he looks pretty normal today. I was so worried. I have to add methylene blue is getting harder and harder to find these days, more pet stores should stock this. While I was waiting, I used hydrogen peroxide and aquarium salt in his QT tank and of course monitoring the water changing it the second the parameters are off. What concerns me now is his poop. He has a mix poop, starts off stringy white then turns to solid "food color" Does he still have an infection? Heres the little guy today ( dorsal fin down cause he's concentrating on pooping )
  4. Thanks DawnMichele and ArticMama I do realize my tank is way overstock for 3 goldies, we are working on a new setup, hopefully within the next few months. I had moved him into the 10g QT tank to better monitor him and medicate if necessary. It appears the bump has popped, The pimple is caved in however the large mass is still there. Is that a sign of a bacterial cyst? There appears to be very small pieces of skin coming off the popped area not sure its a good thing or bad thing. I am taking your advice and salting at 1%.
  5. Our little fancy, Turbo (we named him Turbo cause he's the smallest yet the quickest) has been living with us for almost a year now. Just this week we discovered a pimple-like thing sticking out from his left side. This pimple has been growing bigger everyday. Yesterday we even think we saw a "head" on the pimple. He isn't showing any signs of stress, swimming happily with his buddies and eating food. I wonder what it could be? Is it bacterial? Parasites? Or worse a tumor? 6. Thanks everyone for their quick replies, unfortunately he didn't make it. He passed away this afternoon around 2pm. His name was Rocket. We named him that because he would dart around like a rocket whenever we put food in the tank. R.I.P Rocket There is one more thing I would like advice on.. I had treated Rocket in the main tank with my ryukin Cora thinking whatever illness he had it might have spreadl. I've only really put in one dose of Kanaplex. Should I continue the kanaplex or change out some of the water and run carbon. Thanks in advance
  7. So I have a fairly new tank, about a month old and 2 goldies in it, one ryukin and one fantail. All was well when about 2 weeks ago the fantail started to refuse food and bottom sit. He looks weaker by the day,. I'm tempted to force feed but the LFS told me its better to cure whatever is causing this behavior then give the fish more stress. Please help shine some light on my fish's illness. * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0.25ppm * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0ppm * Nitrate level(Tank) 5.0ppm * Ammonia Level(Tap) 0ppm * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0ppm * Nitrate level(Tap) 0 pm * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.0 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.2 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? cotton-like growth near the gills, clamped fins * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? has not eaten in a week, tried to quarantine so the other fish would not get its food but he seems to avoid the food. He has also shown strange behavior like hitting his gills against the air tube as well as repeatly yawning once in awhile. Now he just bottom sits and will occassionally swim one circle around the tank and return to its position. best shot I can get of the "fuzzy stuff" near his gills. Side shot showing the white scales?
  8. I did a little web searching and found a DIY solution on another forum involving adding an extension to the outtake part with a PVC pipe then punching holes in it to turn it into a spraybar. I wonder if the PVC pipes from Lowes or Home Depot is safe for the fishes 0.o' Right now I'm just letting it sit above the water and letting it splash, since there is an AC70 right next to it, we've gotten accustomed to the noise and like you said, it probably gives them better aeration anyway =)
  9. Thanks Koko, I was looking to buying that for the intake, however I still have the outtake problem @Sakura- I actually have an Aquaclear 70 running on it as well =) Yes these guys are THAT dirty
  10. Just got my hands on a new Marineland H.O.T filter for my 45 gal tank.. setting it up was easy but only one problem, the intake reached and was submerged into water but the outlet tube cannot reach below the water due to the water level. I prefer to keep my tank only 90 % full due to the fact that I don't have a cover and I have big goldfishes that love to splash like dolphins! Does anybody else here own a Magnum filter and have the same problem? If so, can anybody help me with a solution rather than filling the tank up to the top. Also I'm just curious but why does the instructions emphasize that you must keep both the intake and outlet tube under water level at all times? What happens if you keep the outlet tube above water except for the fact that its very noisy? Thanks in advance!
  11. These big guys have a bad habit of splashing a LOT of water on my floors...I'm keeping the water low until I get a cover for the tank..
  12. Just figure I'll update everyone on Comet's status. For those who remember me, I've posted in the Emergency section way back in Nov last year suspecting my goldie to have Columaris and thanks to the help and support of you fellow Koko members, esp thanks to Trinket and Newbiefishgirl..Comet, err my common goldie has gone down a long path to recovery. Although he has not fully recovered yet, he has become much stronger and looks much happier then he was before. I hope this will bring anyone with sick goldies some hope, don't give up on them. They will fight as long as you are fighting with them! Comet as back in November 2008(Peeling Mouth, clamped fins, flashing, lost of appetite) http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/...showtopic=73631 Comet this morning (swimming with his buddies in the new tank, mouth skin has not fully grown back but appetite is definitely good) He is the one in the middle, very camera-shy Him again He's gone through courses of multiple medication but good ol' fashion clean water and a touch of salt seemed to work best for him.
  13. You should email API for a color chart set. When I brought my master kit it didn't come with any color charts. I emailed API and they sent it to me within a week! heres their site: http://aquariumpharm.com/
  14. Thank you everyone for your help! My fishes seem ok after the water changes last night ( I did another 50 when I got home) Thank god my goldies are tough ones =P and Trinket I'll continue to monitor my water parameters
  15. So I use a small container to scoop out floating poop from my goldfishes tank whenever I see it normally. Last night I did just that but forgot to dump out the fece water and left it on the kitchen counter. This morning I used it again (after emptying it) but I noticed the water started to foam up immediately sort of like a white foam and my poor goldie was sunk at the bottom I suspect the container was exposed to soap er dishwashing liquid maybe? Perhaps somebody in my family has used the sink and left residual soap near the counter. Has anyone ever had this experience? Any advice on what to do in this situation? I did an immediate 50% water change before work this morning but I'm still worried =(
