  1. Bubbleboy--yes, in Portland out on 42nd. :) Can you believe it--there's more of us in this area! It's fun to talk about stuff we're all familiar with around here. :exactly

Gah I know it's so fun! We can talk about.....how dirty the Willamette is haha. And cool places in the Valley. You ever been to Lush? That place in portland with the handmade soaps? My mom loves that place but I can't stand it. The smells make my head and chest hurt for some reason and I get really cranky haha. Oh and Pastinis. Ever been there? Great italian restaurant on....23rd street I believe.....? Somewhere around there haha. But you're totally right. It's fun knowing someone on the internet who knows exactly what you're talking about because they live there haha.

  2. Well unless those little white dots on his face are breeding stars, it looks like you have ich in your tank. The big bump is probably a tumor and should be surgically removed. At least that's what it says in my books. I've heard of people doing surgery to remove tumors from their goldfish themselves. All you need to do is take an exacto knife (sterile) and cut it off at it's base. Then dabb some antibacterial ointment on the wound and you should be good to go. That's just the home remedy. If you can find a veterinarian to do this for you, I highly reccomend that option.

However, if you do decide to do it yourself, it's not much different than trimming the wen on a goldfish, which many professionals choose to do if it's growing too large. Hope that helped. :)

  3. Good. I'll have to get my goldfish from that store next time I want one. They look really healthy and well kept! But it's a long drive since that's in portland (right?) and I live in Salem. What city do you live in Kristi and NightAngel? If you don't mind me asking. :)

It's just so cool we have some Willamette Valley people here! :rockon

  4. No WAY! I was just there yesterday! I did not know that they had fancys there. All I knew is that they had that big tank to the left of the enterance witht he common/sarassa/shubunkins. I was just picking up supplies so was not looking that day. I am glad I didnt cuz that ryukin is a real looker.

I think they dont like pictures because of the animal rights folks that like to cause trouble. They actually take better care of their stock than any other fish store around. The damage to the eye of the oranda could have happened in transit to the store.

I really like this store. They have the best selection in town no contest. I really like their nano fish selection with the exotic rasboras and tetras. Really the best store around.......

Thanks for the info Kristi. I know that place. I've been there! Isn't it near portland? Or in portland? lol. I'm so excited! Nightangel, are you from the Willamette valley too?? Wooh!!! That makes two others! :D

  5. You said you just got your fish right? Well maybe the white stringy poop is from the stress of being put in a new tank? That can sometimes be the case. Don't fall to pieces just yet. You're better off than lots of goldfish keepers are right now. If it helps, just remember my motto: "Just keep swimming" :)

Haha yeahh i just got both Bb and Trev last night. Okayy i'll try not to freak out anymore. :thanks

Yeah. That might be the cause then. Moving a fish into a new home can cause so many things to happen. Mostly stress. So just watch out and keep your head. :) If all else fails, you've got Koko's!

  7. I had the exact same problem. Incandescant bulbs are bad for giving off heat like Chole said,so I switched to flourescent bulbs. They give off close to no heat and are extremely bright. Well not like blinding lol. They just bask your fishtank in a nice refreshing glow.
