  1. I think I put new coral in about 4-5 months ago so it is time for a new batch. I'm going to check goldfishconnection to see what they offer as far as buffers. Thank you for your help.
  2. I just checked my tap water pH and it is around 7.8-8.0. I rechecked my tank water and it is still in the mid to high 6 range. At the moment, I do not have a buffer and just use crushed coral. It sounds like I need to invest in a good buffer and the coral is not doing the job. Thank you
  3. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level 0 * Nitrite Level 0 * Nitrate level 10-20 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 6.5 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API drops * Water temperature? 75* * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 75 gallons running for 9 months. * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Aquaclear 70 filter and rena Filstar xp3 filter * How often do you change the water and how much? Once a week at 20-30% each time I do a larger then normal water change on Sunday at about 50% water change. Before putting the water in, I put the amquel+ in like normal and filled the tank. It was a larger water change because the tank has gotten a little dirty. The next day I noticed the dojo loach had a couple white spots on he's head but I figured he might have gotten hit by the gravel vac. He likes to hid in the gravel and I have hit him a couple times because I did not see him. The next day my goldfish was completly white and had a fuzzy/flim look to him. I treated with the salt and stress coat thinking it was a bad case of ick, but he died the next day. The dojo has gotten worse and I am not sure what to do. They were both eating and swimming normaly until the water change. Is it possible my tap water has something that caused this or was the tank just too dirty to begin with? The water tested fine and is nice and clear. I have noticed some Planaria worms swimming around and that is why I did the larger tank cleaning. Any suggestions on what this is would be greatly appreciated. Thank you * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 4 * How many fish in the tank and their size? I had 1 Ryunkin about 6 inches head to tail and 1 dojo loach about 8 inches lon.g * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Amquel+ * What do you feed your fish and how often? Pro-gold twice a day. * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? Added aquarium salt and a little stress coat yesterday. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. I have not had to treat them with anything until the salt and stress coat. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? The fish's skin is peeling off and its whole body is white. The dojo is barely alive though. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? They were fine until a day ago.
  4. Thanks everyone! Chase's wen is crazy. It keeps growing but has slowed down now that he is a year old. Jeana727: I like the name Elijah. He can be Ellie for short. ShawneeRiver: That is a cute name suggestion. It would make for an interesting conversation.
  5. This is Chase and my other goldfish. I'm not sure what color my smaller goldie is since he is changing colors to almost yellow now. He is still nameless after 2 months. They are in a 75 gallon, planted tank. Ignore the floating plants. Between my dojo loach and the goldfish, I can't keep them planted. Thanks for looking.
  6. 75 gallon tank A couple pictures of my goldies.
  7. Here are a couple of pictures of what the plants look like.
  8. I was just going to ask if you all wanted to split them. I'll count tomorrow but I know there is atleast 5 nice sized plants.
  9. Anyone want some crypts? I'll get a picture tomorrow when I do a water change if you would like to see them. They are a nice size. There are about 5 of them that are just floating on the top of my tank. I can't throw them out because I feel bad about doing so but there is no where to plant them in my tank.
  10. I have a bunch of those and need to get rid of some too. I find the older/larger leaves are more brown then the smaller/newer leaves. Hopefully you enjoy your new plants.
  11. They are cute little fish. Your calico oranda is cute too.
  12. Well, my fish, especially big piggy Jackson, have been checking them out. They're simply intrigued by all the plants, but they don't appear to be eating them. I can do pictures, but just remember.... what you see is not a final design. It's definitely nicer than it was, but I still have much more to do. In a barely related question, what do goldies do with cryptocornes? My one and only lfs just doesn't seem to be able get corkscrew vals and I wanted something tall and squiggly like that, so I was looking at their cryptocorne balansae as an alternative. Will goldies eat it? .........WHEN I could afford to buy it..... Goldfish do not seem to bother crypts. I have a few that I don't need but don't want to throw away. My crypts have been moved a few times and they are still alive. They'll lose some leaves and look bad for a couple weeks but will come back nicely. I can get a picture of the plants I don't need if you would like to see them and possibly have them. I've never shipped plants before so I would need to do a little research.
  13. My tank went through a couple of weeks being cloudy. It was cycling though. Now it is clear and pretty again.
  14. Makes me want to try a Java Fern next. Your plants look really nice.
