  1. Well I remember when I was 16 years old, I kept two lovely commons in a bowl (yes, back then I had NO IDEA on proper care) and they kept me company for four years, but eventually passed away because they were stunt. Later on, I had Stampede with a unnamed black moor that didn't live long ( I always had bad luck keeping moors alive) in a 10 gallons. Had that point, I found out about this website and nitrogen cycle. Pretty much I got into the hobby and wanted to keep my fantail Stampede the proper way, so I got her a rubbermaid bin that could hold at least 20 gallons. Sadly she stayed with me only for 2 years until she passed away, which I assume was caused by flukes. Next came Miso and Tofu, residing in the rubbermaid bin for awhile until my dad bought me my 30 gallons along with a nice stand only for approx 150$. I bought a third oranda called Renoir but this poor guy was probably already sick as he only lived a week. Of course I had to treat the whole tank with PP but thanks the Lord it didn't destroy my cycled filters completely! Recently Wasabi came into the picture, he's such a cute little pearscale! All 3 fish's gender is yet to be determined. Wasabi, my latest addition to the family All 3 fish living happily in the 30 gallons
  2. Yes the bronze colored one, whom I bought as a "Blue Oranda" is Miso! I don't mind his bronze color but I am hopeful that he will change color!
  3. Not the best pics since I used a webcam. Wasabi, my newest addition Wasabi the Pearlscale, Miso the Oranda and Tofu the fantail
  4. I've seen alot of people with pretty pearlies on the forum and I couldn't resist but to get one. I named him (her?) Wasabi. He's such a little cutie, wiggling his tail! I am working on a video on my fish and their tank. I hope to finish it so I can post it on Youtube. =)
  5. Aw thank you. There's a TMNT reference in that name. XP
  6. Yes he is adorable and I know turtles grow huge! Although males tends to be smaller than females. Yes, turtles can poop more than goldies and require probably 20-30 times the filtration. I don't mind doing alot of water changes though, it's good exercise. I love my goldies and turtle!
  7. Not the best photo but I tried. I will try and attempt at getting a better one. I guess this picture will have to do for now! =) Here are my 2 loving companions in their 30 gallons. Miso the Oranda and Tofu the Fantail While I'm at it, I recently got myself a red eared slider too and he resides in my 40 gallons rubbermaid! I am not sure how old he is but I know for sure that he is still a hatchling. Chevy Donnova the Turtle
  8. Awww what an adorable little pom-pom fantail! =D
  9. Sorry for the bump, but perhaps this should be moved into emergency, I kinda browsed there and I think this topic would be better off there. Anyways, update! He still isnt moving much but instead of keeping him in a really cramped placed, I've set up my 25 gallons for him. He now resides in there, recovering in clean water with two aqua clear filters running (20 and 50).
  10. I cant really provide a photo as I my camera isnt working, although I do know that the white looks like fluttering cotton. As for red streak, I haven,t found any under the light, which I suppose is a good sign?
  11. Ammonia Level? 0ppm Nitrite Level? 0 ppm Nitrate level? 3-5ppm Ph Level, (If possible,KH and GH and chloramines)? No clue Ph Level (KH/GH) out of the Tap? 7.5 Brand of test-kit used? (strips or drops?) Drops, Pharmaceutical Master Kit [*]Tank size (How many Gals) and How long has it been running? Only a few days, used some cycled media for the quarantine. [*]What is the name and size of the filter/s? Aquaclear 20 [*]How often do you change the water and how much? Every 3 days [*]How many fish in the tank and their size? 1, small-medium sized [*]What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime [*]Any medications added to the tank? Only swabbed Permoxyn with a Q-Tip on the fluffy patches [*]Add any new fish to the tank? He's the new fish in a quarantine tank [*]What do you feed your fish? Hikari, Flakes, Broccoli, bloodworms, brine shrimps, oranges [*]Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt", bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Fungus, splits in dorsal fin [*]Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating,ect..? Bottom sitting, although when there is food, he perks up and goes to eat. I bought a new fish recently since Renoir the oranda passed away. It's a black moor with a butterfly tail. He is still in quarantine in my 5 gallons tank since he has developped a fluffy looking patches on both sides, and it is more apparent under good a good light. The filter media in the quarantine tank is cycled since some of it has been borrowed from the main tank and the water is coming from the tap, of course it has been dechlorinated with Prime. Seems that the Permoxyn swabbing doesnt have any effect and I have yet to try hydrogen peroxide (sp?). Help? =)
  12. For your adorable Elaine's sake, don't put a betta with her. As much as goldfish can make short work out of a betta by ripping it's long flowy fins, the opposite can happen just as well, since bettas are really aggressive.
  13. 1) Is "goldfish" causing a problems with your job, your business, or personal relationships? Not that I know of, besides, I only work on weekends and I go to school during the week. Even though my income is very very low, I have an unlimited supply of food (With Pro Gold, 3 packets of Hikari, 3 bottles of flakes etc. I think their supply can last for a decade!). I only have to buy Prime when I'm out. 2) Do you often "goldfish" alone? Nah! My family has no interest in goldfish, although my fiance did keep goldfish years ago and I'm teaching him the right ways! 3) Do you crave "goldfish" at a certain time? Don't all goldfish addict crave them? XP Yes. 4) Do you often want to "goldfish" the next morning? I always do the next morning. lol 5) Is "goldfish" making your home life unhappy? On the contrary, goldfish is a good companion to have when you live alone in an apartment. 6) Have you ever felt remorse after (buying) "goldfish"? NEVER! 7) Do you often "goldfish" to help with stress or other problems? That I do! 8) Is "goldfish" affecting your reputation? Not at all! 9) Have you ever attended counseling because of "goldfish"? Do I really need counseling? Goldies are good therapy! 10) Have you ever had a loss of memory as a result of "goldfish". My brains always had a short memory spawn!
  14. That poem pretty much cheered me up after I lost Renoir! It was humorous enough to make me stiffle several giggles! Please do write more!
  15. Green algae helps lower nitrates just like any other aquatic plants you get from the store and also they can serve as a salad bar for your fish, so they have plenty to snack on.
