  1. Sorry about not filling in all the required info for this section but I feel it will not help in this situatuion. I thought I would try some frozen krill for my little guys. I never fed this stuff before and I was quite surprised how big they were, they look like little shrimp with eyes. I cut them up in bite size pieces and fed them. Well it took Google like 10 minutes to chew them down and I am afraid Peepers got one stuck in his mouth. He struggled with it for a couple hours until I went to bed and I figured it would be out by morning. Well 14 hours later and he is still trying to get it out. He has a really tiny mouth. Any tweezers I have are too big to get in there. Poor little guy is being treated for dropsy at the moment and I feel really bad for him. I hate to pick him up and try to get this thing out. I guess I could get some stress coat and some tiny tweezers from the store maybe.
  2. I have an update for the helpers and anyone following Day three of the Maracyn 2 today. Google is still pineconed, a little bit more than the previous picture, but otherwise she is taking it well. She spends a lot of time on the bottom but is active from time to time swimming about the tank. Peepers is still bottom sitting most of the time but he tries to swim around sometimes. He seems sinky but has more energy than a couple days ago when he could barely swim for food. He is a little pineconed but not much. Both are still eating and pooping. So far no more floating issues, I have been feeding sparingly. No ammonia yet and tank parameters are holding. The spare tub with the other filter is running. I threw in about 20 pellets on day one and they are still sitting on the bottom. Do you think they will create enough ammonia to keep the BBs fed in that filter? MMs and Jumpstart will arrive Monday and I I should be able to start the MM late in the evening monday. Any tips on MM would be helpful. When it comes time to remove the Maracyn 2 what should I do? I am thinking large water change and then add carbon. Also after that would it be safe to add back my other filter from the tub?
  3. I am not sure what the rule of thumb is for crushed coral. I think it would depend on how fine the coral is crushed, gph of filter and water parameters to begin with. For my ph problems it was trial and error until I finally found something that worked. I now use Nutrifin PH Stabalizer to get my 7.0 tap to 7.6 before a wc and I maintain the ph during the week with crushed coral. I use about 1.5 cups of coral per 27 gallons. I did a lot of bucket testing to figure it out what worked. I hear many members use Buff it UP.
  4. It's just another form of culling and torture in my opinion
  5. I just used a tub that was never used for anything but these guys before, and I cleaned it out with hot water. I used on of the existing filters in the tub. In the tank I am going to hold off on the ammonia remover atm as I only have one established biomax in there, I just replaced my old crushed coral slot with a new one but I have to keep that in there. I just did a 100% wc added the maracyn 2. I fed them a few pellets as they havent had anything but veggies and fasting for 4-5 days. I had to basically hand feed Peepers because he doesnt seem to have the will to search for it. Will keep monitoring tank params and hope for the best. Thanks
  6. Thanks guys Got the Marcyn 2 and ammonia remover. Should I add the ammonia remover right away? Or just wait for ammonia to appear? The old filter I have to run with the biomax in a tub was used with koi 3 months ago and one of them had an ulcer. Should I just use one of my existing filters? Also can I feed my cycle in the tub with fish food?
  7. Aeration shouldnt be a problem. I hate to cut the filtration to 200 gph by losing a filter but maybe taht will be okay since we are working with a 27 gallon. I do have a couple old filters so I can put some of my biomax in that so that I still have 400gph. I'll check the zeolite cause I am on my way to the lfs. Is zeo the one with half carbon? I know ac makes a ammonia remover but I hear that starves the cycle, if I am going to lose the cycle than I guess it doesnt matter. Okay i am just talking out loud but I think we solved the issue with the cycle with running one in a tub
  8. I am starting Marcyn 2 today. These guys are not coming off the bottom at all. I may be possibly 5 days until the MM come, I've waited on meds before and lost a fish and I am not doing that again. I dont care about the BB I willc ycle again if I have to, I would rather lose the cycle than the fish. 100% wc is going to be done before Marcyn 2 as salt makes it ineffective. Thanks guys for all your help Do you think raising the temp is still needed? Is this to help.... with the fluid buildup?
  9. I just ordered the MM and Jumpstart. It is looking like Monday or Tuesday for delivery. I am scared as to what state my guys will be in then. No improvement. Both fish on the bottom and Google is pineconing(a little more prenounced now). I am confused, if they are constipated I should be fasting? Or if it is dropsy should they get some sort of food? Also should I just start maracyn 2 now instead of waiting for the MM?
  10. MM it is. Wow what a price for quick ship. They areworth it!
  11. Carbon it is tomorrow. Please advise mods for MM as I can have shipped tomorrow arrive Monday
  12. I am on day two of the Prazi. Yeah it was a cheap uv. Maybe add the carbon tomorrow? That would mean the Prazi treatment would be over huh? Off to work, I can reply on my phone later
  13. Ok they both got half a pea with the epsom. It took Peepers so long to get his it may have dissolved before he got it. Google got the bigger of the grains and sucked it up pretty quick. I added a cheap uv sterilizer 30 days ago, it is made of plastic. I removed it for the prazi during last water change. Filters were totally cleaned two days ago. I just didnt get into the propellers, but they are usually pretty clean. I am about to add sponges to the filter intakes as Peepers got his tail stuck in an intake
  14. Here is the pineconing: Kind of hard to tell but I think you can. I'll try the pea/epsom trick. Peepers has such a small mouth that I am scared he wont get the pea down and it will get stuck in his mouth. I guess it is more important for Google to get it anyway, she is a vacum. No poop that I noticed recently. Still eating. I'll pm a mod later tonight after work if no one has replied because I am off in an hour for work and won't have time for any treatment, except for the pea trick.
  15. No improvement today. Still both spending most time on the bottom. And Google still pineconed. I am trying to get a hold of Fish Sempai for their Metromed and Jumpstart combo to see how long it would take to have shipped. Hopefully I can get it fast. If I am going to seperate Google with epsom should I continue the Prazi treatment in that tank? I don't have enough prazi to treat two tanks. The current tank has 0.1 % salt and prazi in it now. Should I do a 100% change and add epsom and add the prazi back in that tank instead? I added the prazi two days ago so I am ready for the next dose in one more day. Afetr that I may not have quite enough for a full other dose. Prazi is 4-6 business days away. Hoping for a mod soon
  16. Caught what early ? Constipation or dropsy?
  17. I got home from work tonight and they were both chillin out on the bottom. I came over to the tank and Google came right over but peepers seemed to want to stay motionless in the corner. I fed them a little and they seem fine. No clamped fins. I am not sure only because it is a little bit but I think Google might be pineconing a bit. Peepers might a little too. If it is dropsy I thought pineconing was meaning the end was near. edit: Google is pineconing at his sides a seems a little bloated. Peepers I don't think is pineconing.
  18. Is steamed better than boiled? Zucchini how do you prepare that? Also what sort of frozen foods do you feed? Yes peas make them floaty for sure
  19. They are floating butt up. I tried boiled spinach yesterday afternoon and they were fine, maybe the peas like you said. O2 should be good - two bubblers with two seperate pumps rated for 30 gal. I can't tell with clamped fins at the moment as they are at the surface and they are down atm. Tonight they should be sunk and I'll let you know. Wc more frequent - yes for sure Thanks
  20. I did a 75% WC yesterday and dosed with Prazi. They didnt freak out or anything they seemed to act like nothing was even added. Peepers seemed to perk up a bit after the wc though, I think he is feeling a little better. Currently the tank is at 0.1%salt and prazi. I fed them peas last night and they are both floating near the surface, have been for about 12 hours.
  21. Pellets are soaked. Geen water was eliminated with a uv sterilizer. Prazi it is then. Just follow the directions? I have maybe enough for 2-3 rounds of prazi Thanks for your replies
  22. Yes fins are clamped. Both fish have not been prazied since qt which for both was two years ago. I don't get a change to see much poop but I have seen as of late some white skinny poop and empty casings. One indicates infection and the other constipation if memory serves correct. Parameters were as stated in the boxes above after the two weeks A-0, Nit-0, Nitrate-15-20, ph 7.6. I have a plant it must use some of the nitrate as well as minimum feeding as of late. Fast is no problem for today and veggies for two days. He has only had one meal though in the last 2.5 days, do you think he might need some strength? Also if parisite related do you think both might be affected? Jungle medicated food is 4-6 days away mail order I even tried some shops within an hours drive but Pets Unlimit*d (chain store with crappy selection) has run them all out of business
  23. Them is not the problem. It is one - Peepers. And he has not left the bottom for two full days. Sorry if that sounded bad I just got off a 16 hour split shift. If we are talking about a red pepper alergy, he has not had any of that for two full days, would that still be affecting him this way? The red peppers have been in his diet for 3-4 weeks now, why all of a sudden all this bottom sitting? I fed him some brine shrimp gel food today but no floatiness. I am just taking a stab at this but what about some Maracyn or Maracyn 2 for an internal infection. I am predicting he will not make it through the night.
  24. The pellets are Omega One. My guys get floaty on all pellets. Thanks for the info about osmoreregulation Google seems fine, a little floaty lately lately but I cut their food intake again and she seems fine. Salt has been added. I am off to work for now, will update later. Congats on MOTM as well
  25. Thanks for the reply! The only change in food recently was that I put red peppers in the last batch of gel food, oh yes I tried some new pellets recently too. What is osmoregulation?
