well the only thing that i know is that they act really normal.. but like they still have a bit red streaks on the tails.... i couldnt' see my black oranda but the orange/white i can see there is still some. i was wondering if it was septima?(not sure if its spelled that way).. their fins do perk up sometimes but i suspect there is something wrong ! ... cuz they do clamp their fins very often...

  2. i'm not sure if my post is in the right section but for some reason my 2 orandas have a bit of clamped fins! sometimes they perk up. so i'm not sure if anything is wrong ?? or that there might be a problem coming ? the water is fine . well cycled..

    nitrate 20 nitrite 0 ammonia 0 ph 7.5

    i have a 30 gallon

uses prime and hagen water conditioner plus

they've had a little red streaks on the rear tail.

other than that everything is pretty much fine ...

and one more thing .. when GF sleeps do they clamp their fins ???

  3. Both rubbernose pleco and bristlenose pleco are compatible with GF actually...in my experience rubbernose pleco is Omnivore but their personality is really shy which they will not attack GF....Bristle nose is a Herbivore so it won't attack goldfish. The only differences is that rubberlip/rubbernose/bulldog pleco is a bit more expensive and i find the spotted one really pretty.

    Here is a link:

To koko's compatable fish with GF

and by the way i end up buying a bristlenose because he is bigger and its the same price as the spotted which was only 1" long... he is living happy in it with a driftwood !!!

  4. Just going to make sure everything is right before my new pleco...How should i quarantine the rubberlip pleco in the QT ?? should i add these anti paracite medicine in the QT?? (how sensative is pleco's against medicines???) i hv greenex.. i'm not sure if its a good idea to use ? or should i just let him live in QT for about a week or so then introduce him to my tank??

  5. i have goldfishes and i have been taught by this goldfish breeder to add a bit of salt everytime i change water... i had have had a rblip pleco and it died all of a sudden.. my water was excellent nitrate 30 nitrite 0 and ammonia 0 and ph 7.5 temp 77F

they just died all of a sudden could salt be the case ?? or maybe they are starve to death???

i notice the glass has these green algae but i had serious thoughts and still couldn't come up with an answer y 3 of them died everytime they lived there for about a week !! can someone help me ??

  6. thx !!! i was just thinking about that !! the thing that sucks is the local stores always sold out the alge walfers !!!! i was piss that they have nothing even though that "store" is the best store for fishes but it just makes me mad!!!! ok i give it another try .. i was thinking the water temp was a bit too high !! but then i saw they can go up to 78 degrees and was planning on getting another type of algae eatter like butterfly loach ... but i heard they are even harder to upkeep !!!! so i give it another try and maybe order some online or something !!!

  7. thx .. its hard to tell they are unhappy or sick (not like goldfish)... yeah its just weird how they just died !! yesterday i saw them sticking on the glass and this morning i see him just sitting their though he was just there around and about but then i realized that he wasn't blinking and he is a bit hovering .... he likes to hide on the rock in this corner but he wasn't as shy usually they are shy in the beginning and then later they r fine just going all over a the place. i was wondering its either he didn't have enough food? or smth else cuz the water condition is just fine i adjust it just for him cuz previous ones died probly cuz it was too warm .. i had to crank up the heat cuz there was a ich crisis couple weeks ago... anyone that can help???

  8. For some reason for the past 2 months i bought 3 spotted rubbernose pleco they are about 1 to 3" (bought them sepeartly after each one dies) for some reason they seem to be fine at first and they suddenly just died. i just found the newest rubbernose died today he only lasted for a week or so. he was fine yesterday too. i havn't been feeding him because the glass had algae but its still weird how they just all died. did i do smth wrong???

    nitrite 0 ammonia 0 nitrate 30 temperature 78

they are with a couple goldies in the tank ~~!!

does anyone know whats wrong or have u had that happened??

i'm starting to be disappointed with the rubbernose plecos i like them more than bristle nose cuz i don't like their "mustash" .

i'm thinking if i should get a new one or just move on with something else???

  9. yeah my fish had a ich crisis and they alllllllllll died .. and before one oranda head this hole in the head disease but it was not on the head..but it was caused by bacteria .. i had to disinfect everything and wanted to prevent it from happening but then hearing you say it didn't help much i think i might just wait a bit and like you said maybe go with a canister filter first ! then get a better uv sterilizer. maybe that would be better?
