  1. Yes, they are very active and friendly. Just sucks that all three have passed away in the last 3 months. I guess they were old though!
  2. Yes. I quarantined them for 6 weeks. They've been introduced to the main tank for about a month already.
  3. I salt dipped him last night and threw him in a quarantine tank. He's directly on his side at then top of the water. Still breathing.
  4. I've had my three shubunkins for about 10 years. The first died in July the second in august now the third looks like its on the way out. Anything I can try. He's been acting pretty still the last few days like the other two. I will have to do some tests in the Morning. Also my new orandas

  6. Well, I woke up to him being dead. I've had my three goldfish for 9-10 years. Two of them have died in the last month. I'll do some water testing before. I checked the water after the last one died and everything came up fine. Btw just noticed I had some pictures of them from along time ago in my sig. The one in the pictures in my first post is the third one in my sig.
  7. My one shubunkin had been getting pretty fat/balloning by the anus for the last few weeks. Today I noticed that the right side by the Anus is far more ballooned than the left
  8. I have a bag of "Fine Sea Salt" containing "Salt Magnesium Carbonate" that was bought at a natural health food store and I was just wondering if I could use it in my tank. On a sidenote, I will be ordering some Pro-Gold and was wondering if I should add anything else to my order.
  9. Just had the chance to check the ph today and its around 7.2
  10. I transfered about 10% of the water from my old tank. Also my filter has an extra media slot and the filters running on my old tank were only a week old, so I just decided to transfer those over too. I tested the water back on Saturday when I noticed this behaviour. The test results were the same but the ph was at 8.2. Right after I did a 25% water change. Now that I think about it the tank has been running for about 2 months.

  12. Well, just got it up and running. Got two Penguin 350, 2 50 AC powerhead attached to an undergravel filter. Pushing out about 1000 gph Picture
  13. I'm upgrading my current 29 gallon with a Penguin 300 Powerfilter to a 55 gallon. I was just wondering if I should get an internal or a canister filter or just stick with an external one.
  14. I didn't notice any of my fish to be fatter. No recent chasing in the tank either. I have never sex my fish before. So, I should just get rid of them?
  15. I woke up this morning and noticed quite a bit of white balls on a piece of wood I have in the tank. Here's some pictures. http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/8536/dsc0004zkb.jpg http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/8953/dsc0005fct.jpg
  16. I've been planning to put in a pond for a few weeks now. Nothing to special just a 200 gallon pre-shaped pond. I was thinking on buying a filter like this "pressuized filter" but i've read in several places that a pond this size doesn't really need a filter. I will just be putting in my three shubunkins that are about 8-10 inches. Another issue I have is the location. Most of my backyard is on a slope and the only convenient is under a birch tree. Does the pond need any sun and will anything off the birch tree be acidic to the pond?
  17. I'm thinking of getting this too. I was just wondering if I needed anything other than what comes in the box. If anyone could give me a could tut on starting it up that would be great.
  18. Sorry for the triple post but it won't allow me to edit my last one. I forgot to mention in my last post that they are acting normal again. I think the scare was for the best. Getting an actual test kit, etc. Here are some pictures I just took. Shinook and Sparky http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/5631/dsc0005z.jpg Shinook http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4097/dsc0006zqz.jpg Sparky http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/6711/dsc0007zae.jpg Speedy http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/8329/dsc0008c.jpg
  19. I went and bought the API Master Test Kit Today. Here are my results: Tank Ammonia - 8.0(Almost seems darker than that) Nitrite - 1.0 Nitrate - 10 Ph - 6.4 Tap Ph 7.2
  20. I was also confused with the test results, I will swing by a petstore tommorow and pick up a drop test kit and report back. I just did a 50% water change and after test tommorow and reporting back I'll do one that you recommend. I do realize that my tank is over-populated but I don't enough room for a 80 gallon. I have considered to sell them but I've had them since they were 1-2 inches. Those pictures are from 2006 I believe when I first got them.
  21. Recently my two shubunkins have been hanging out at the water line. Sometimes they tip a little bit. If I go up to the tank they will swim around but will eventually just shot up to the top. [*]Test Results for the Following: [*]Ammonia Level- N/A [*]Nitrite Level - 0-0.5 [*]Nitrate level - 200 [*]Tank Ph Level - 6.0 Kh Level - 0 Gh Level - 180 [*]Tap Ph Level - 7.0 Kh Level - 240 Gh Level - 180 [*]API 5 in 1 Aquarium Test Strips [*]70C [*]29 gallons about 3-4 years [*]Penquin 330 [*]Not as often as I should. Prob once every 2-3 the water level as decreased by 25% and I top it off. [*]3. The one that isn't showing any symptons is about 10-11 inches with tail. The other two are 10-11 inchs(frayed tail) and 8-9 inchs(bumps/bubble on edge of fins) [*]None [*]Laguna Goldfish and Koi Food, Twice a day [*]Nope [*]Nope [*]One has frayed tail and the other has like bumps/bubble looking things on edge of tail [*]Stated Above.
  22. It was in cycle for about 1-2 months.
  23. About 2 months ago. Then I let it sit for a week then added the new filter stuff.
  24. So the tank is going through cycling again?
