  1. oh, they have their own aquarium to live in, so im not worried about population just yet, i plan on getting a dwarf puffer to keep the population down some once i get back home from ohio. tried the veggies and fish food, they loved it, greedy lil things all clumped up on it so i broke it up and put little pieces in each corner so everyone had a chance.
  2. aww! its so cute! its smiling at me. i leave for ohio for my husbands family reunion on wednesday mornign and i plan to save up after i get home to get a new aquarium, i will probobly get a minibow if i cant find a decent plain 5 gallon tank. thanks you guys for all your help.
  3. well im not at home right now but google had lots of images that helped so here goes... i have some of these... http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/invisigoth_/sdfa.jpg and some of these... http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/inv...oth_/snails.jpg and ive noticed one that looks like this... http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/invisigoth_/vbnc.jpg this one is the only one i can tell from his brothers and sisters, lol.
  4. thank you so much! i was only planning on getting one, is it better to keep them in groups? i will check out the links as soon as im done typing this:D the one up on the banner for the site is the kind ive seen, but i got to looking and they are all so cute, i think its their little faces.
  5. i am considering buying a dwarf puffer, i saw them at the local pet shop and they are so cute, the ones thye have look like a little jelly belly jelly bean(pear flaovred) all lime green with little brown dots. any advice and tips i need to know about? tank size set up, that sort of thing, the guy at the pet shop says they eat snails, and i have them in abundance i thought that this fish would be ideal to keep the population of Garyville down to a minimum.( i call all my snails Gary after spongbobs snail pet)
  6. he was loved. thank you*huggles*
  7. i had my friend give me some snails, they are small, i think they are just common pond snails, there are 3 different kinds as far as i can tell, some are shapped like a cone or spike, some liek a regular snail you find on the ground, spirally shells, like a cinnabun, and the others are shaped like a tiny conch shell. some have their own tank and a few are in my big tank with my goldie, they seem happy and all, and i love to watch them, but im courious as to what kind they are and what if anythign else i need to do to keep them happy. i feed them algee pellets, but im at a loss as to how often i need to feed them, so i feed them maybe 3 times a week, every other day or so. they like live plants too, so i feed them some of them when i get them from my friend and they love it. i love to watch the tiny babies grow and flourish, and i was confused when i read on here that they are considered pests. any information would be helpful to me. oh, and since i cant tell the boys from the girls i named them all gary after spongebobs pet.
  8. thanks, he will be missed, ive been around here a while but ive not been able to post much since my internet went down.
  9. im sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, i dont have internet at home anymore, the tanks been running for about 6 months now, and i did not see them fight, but beings he looked pretty beat up i just figured that was a likely cause as this hapened overnight. bad news is that he seemed to go pretty much south by the time i got home from posting this and wasnt moving much at all, poor thing didnt even react when i picked him up in the net. i had read that thta is not a good sign at all so i tried to snare him again, same thing, no reaction, he was just about gone, so decided it was best to put him to sleep. it was so hard to do it, i was a wreck, but he was clearly in pain of some sort and not doing good at all, i judt couldnt watch him struggling anymore.
  10. Test Results for the Following: i dont know my water perameters because no place near me sells the testing kits and ive heard the strips suck, so i change do partial water changes very often. Ammonia Level? Nitrite Level? Nitrate level? Ph Level, (If possible,KH and GH and chloramines)? Ph Level out of the Tap? Tank size (How many Gals) and How long has it been running? 20 What is the name and size of the filter/s? whisper internal 10 to 20(i think) How often do you change the water and how much? at least 40 percent every few days as needed How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 What kind of water additives or conditioners? wardleys chlor out Any medications added to the tank? malafix Add any new fish to the tank? no but i did get some snails, but they came from a friend who is as much as a nut about her fish as i am so i am sure they are healthy, i quarnteened them for a week or so before adding them to my goldies tank. What do you feed your fish? flakes, some green beans or peas once in a while. Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt", popped eye on my black moore bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? frayed fins, some sores they are pretty much healed by now Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, ect..? he seems to like to sit in the corner at the top of his tank near the filter. well i think my fish has popeye but it doesnt look like pics ive seen, i need help, ive treated him with malafix(sp?) and its helping his tail to heal(i think he got into a fight with his tank mate, shredded tail, sores on his belly, both of wich are on the mend) but his eyeball is still popped out, not the socket(or whatever its called) but the eye itself is swollen, it looks like his eye is inside a little bubble, its so hard to look at him. his tankmate(a regular calico fantail) is just fine and flourishing, but poor wasabi just looks as if hes wasting away, i dont think hes eating enough cause he has lost his beautiful egg shape and looks far to skinny compared to his brother, they are the same age, but sushi is much smaller. im so worried and i cant think of what to do , i feel terrible. please help me.
  11. I havent been on here in a long time, my moms been in not the best of health, and ive had other things on my mind, one of them has been my babies, Sushi and Wasabi, my beautiful baby goldies,(black moore and callico fantail) and their depression due to their being in such a small home. well ive been collecting bits and pieces here and there, (through friends and freecycle) and i finally have them moved into their new home, not much in decoations, a few pretty stones(maybe 4 or 5 in all) spaced here and there, their no fishing snail, a frog family living on mushroom, ( not real, but im beginnign to take a liking to ADF's) and their neon cave, which is resting on and holding in place the under grave filter plate and airstone tube(for added bubbles and oxygen, as it isnt filterign anythign) . theres a pretty bubble curtin pushed against the back wall too. their thermomiter is just floating, straight up in the air, perfactly balanced, lol, maybe they will play with it, if it gets in their way i will suction cup it to their wall. all in all im proud of myself, i only had to spend maybe 20 dollars on the filter, (mom was nice enough to help me out, hehe) and they seem so much happier. thank you guys so much for helping me out with my endless questions. *hugs you all* pics coming soon.
