  1. Oh thank you! I do think he is quite cute as well. I clean the tank usually 50/60% once a week with cleaning the gravel and wiping down the insides. It's confusing because ever since I cycled the tank Ammonia and Nitrite have never gone above 0. Is that normal? I know in a cycled tank everything is supposed to even out but it's NEVER gone above 0. It's my first time with a cycled tank so I don't really have anything to compare it to. :/ Cleaning the tank twice a week does seem like an idea though! also I have uploaded a longer video over night: Don't mind the Hannibal show playing in the background. :3
  2. Here is the video: I'm sorry I had better footage but even uploading this 15 min clip took forever ;_;

It's just taking a little time.
  4. Hey guys. Here it is. Late May/Early June and completed 12 days and basically 2 rounds of Prazi and salt. I had the BEST results with his tail growing back and a very healthy attitude (energetic, exploring the tank, curious... I can't remember seeing him so healthy!) for the past two weeks. Unfortunately, it never seems to last, and his tail has slowly begun to shred at the ends again in the past two/three days. Unlike the previous experiences, he still seems a little energetic (no hiding) and two weeks is the longest he has gone without shredding. The prazi treatment has been the most successful by far! If it is a parasite I have to assume it has been in the tank for at least 3 years since I bleached and re-setup the tank, I'm fairly certain this is what killed my previous fish who had all the same symptoms. So I'm assuming this has something to do with the life cycle of whatever parasite is in the tank. Any tips on how to proceed? Could a mod change the Topic Title to "Help with Parasites?" Thank you all so so so much I feel closer then ever to finally having the healthy aquarium I've always wanted. Here is my most recent Parameters using the API test kit, last water change was 40% 4 days ago, the other info is the same: * Ammonia Level(Tank) - 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) - 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) - 5.0 ppm * Ammonia Level(Tap) - 0 * Nitrite Level(Tap) - 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) - 0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) - 7.8 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) - 7.8 Thank you so much again in advance for the help.
  5. One extra question though: His behaviour is extremely normal other then the deteriorating fins. If it were flukes wouldn't he be flashing?
  6. I'll take that suggestion! I actually have prazi and I can follow with the ten days for Metro Meds... I've never used prazi before though. Should I use it in the main tank or a hospital? Do you have any tips on using it?
  7. http://oi60.tinypic.com/htv6zs.jpg There yeah go! Just his back tail, he is very camera shy. I HAVE considered disinfecting the entire tank but this is the busiest month of the year for me (birthdays, work, ect) and I just won't have a day to dedicate to solely to disinfecting until June. I still remember the ordeal last time. Changing the water once a day for an hour isn't too bad in case of a crash, but disinfecting everything will take time. Since the Maracyn and Ethromycin seem to work I'm really hoping it will fix any problems I have. I have used Maracyn 2 in the past on my main tank without any crashing I guess I kinda have my fingers crossed for this time. I do recognize there is a huge chance of me being wrong though. I haven't ever used anything but antibacterial meds on him. Also, I'm not sure if you have an idea of plants, but I have anubias plants in the tank, if I take them out will this completely screw up the cycle for sure? I've been wondering if it's the plants. I don't love them, I was thinking about getting something else. Also also thank you thank you thank you for helping!
  8. I also have metro meds unopened, should I use that as well?
  9. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) - 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) - 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) - 0 * Ammonia Level(Tap) - 0 * Nitrite Level(Tap) - 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) - 0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) - 7.6 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) - 7.6 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API, drops * Water temperature? 79 * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 30G for 5 years * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Penguin 350, 4 C Filters * How often do you change the water and how much? Once a week, 60% * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Yesterday 60% * How many fish in the tank and their size? 1 Lionhead 3 inches * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? Hikari Lionhead once a day * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? Never * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. None * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Frayed Fins * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Bottom sitting mostly because of missing fins. SO I have been dealing with the worlds most confusing and annoying Finrot problem for three years now. I have lost one fish to it and now my second fish who was never around when the first one passed, has been showing the same symptoms for the past two years. Basically the fins fray incredibly slowly, very clean lines, and never heal... ever. I've posted a few threads about this in the past and it's still an issue. Twice, I have moved my fish to my hospital tank and treated him first with Ethromycin by API and then Maracyn 2. While he got better during both runs when I put him back into the tank it was back to square one. I've decided to treat the main tank with Maracyn 2. My tank hasn't had any medications in it since I bleached it 4 years ago after a really bad infection I couldn't figure out. I only really trust Maracyn 2 as it is what I have always used for the past 10 years. I understand that treating the main tank is risky so I want to do whatever I can to make sure this is the best run. I also want to do some treatments with aquarium salt dips, do I do it before or after the maracyn? PROBLEM 2: Maracyn 2 has been discontinued I have enough to do a full cycle... minus one packet. I have a thirty gallon. If I find another type of Minocycline could I mix two different types? Or would it just be best to lower the levels in the tank a little bit and use what I have? I know this is a lot thanks a ton in advance!
  10. Update: My Liszt is doing a lot better. He is swimming around the tank a lot and it's been only a few days but I can recognize regrowth on his back fins. It's hard to tell on his other fins since they were so small and I can still barely see them. Unfortunately due to a death in my family I haven't had the time to do the salt dip as it seems very involved. With him doing better I'm reluctant about the salt dip now as well. I'm really thinking even after treatment he would be better off in the 10G since the current isn't as strong, just until his fins grow back. I was thinking of doing a round of Prazi once he is back in the main tank to kill off anything in the main tank. Good idea? Bad idea? Or are flukes only attached to the fish?
  11. Thank you guys so much. I'll definitely get on cleaning the inside of the filter (not the media) I've never thought of that before. :/ I will get him in the QT for erythromycin right away. Should I do the salt dips while he is in the QT or after the treatment? What is the proper concentration for the salt dip?
  12. Just to update, I've bought some API Aquarium Salt, Prazi Pro as well as E.M. Erythromycin. The last one is by API and was offered as a replacement for Maracyn which has been discontinued? I'm thinking maybe Big Al's is now sponsored by API? Fishy...
  13. I can get aquarium salt both. But Prazi is for parasites? Do you think it's a parasite infection rather then a bacterial? I have to admit I lost my previous fish in the same tank to a similar deterioration of the fins eventually dying from Dropsey. I'll head out to the store and grab a bit of everything. Also: Should I medicate in the 30G or the 10G? I can set up the 10G tonight. I'm just unsure of what levels will be like? What do most people do for hospital tanks? I also own Metro Med by Fish Sempai unopened.
  14. Here I took 2... Better then last time at least: http://www.yourgimmick.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/photo-1.jpg http://www.yourgimmick.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/photo-2.jpg While before it would come off in patches it's coming off in ridges now. I'm worried that the flow is too strong for his almost nothing pectoral fins... causing him to stress. I have a cherry tree ornament blocking it a bit and tried to make a closed off section with plants but I'm not sure it working. Also thank you for your help on the other thread. My life got busy I was hoping tlc would work but it didn't.
  15. So I had a previous post here: http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/index.php?/topic/113079-fin-rot-wont-heal-almost-perfect-levels/ I did not want to necros the post also the situation is a little different now. Previously the Finrot would not fix, but it wouldn't get worse. Well, now it's progressing, and my lionhead now insists on sitting in corners. I think it's because his fins have eroded so much the current from the filter is too much for him to handle. In the past month I have been changing 60% of the water once a week and the only test that would change was the Nitrate; it was never higher then 5.0ppm. I've even been taking out some of the gravel each change to try and have less then 1 and a half inches of gravel. There are no hollow ornaments. The only thing that's changed is that the water temperature dropped from 80 to 75 in the past month. I'm really worried and want to turn to medication now. I've used Maracyn before but that was before I bleached the tank and restarted with a new filter, new gravel, and plants. Is Maracyn okay to use with plants? I have two Anubias plants. I do have a 10G hospital tank. Unfortunately, I haven't touched it in two years. The filter hasn't been running but the gravel is still wet. What should I do? Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) 5.0 (Before Water Change) * Ammonia Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) 0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.0 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.0 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API * Water temperature? 75 * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 30G running for almost 3 years * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Penguin 350 * How often do you change the water and how much? Once a Week 60% * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 7 Days, just changed the water. * How many fish in the tank and their size? 1 Lionhead 3 Inches * What kind of water additives or conditioners? API Stresscoat Plus * What do you feed your fish and how often? Hikari Lionhead Sinking Pellets * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? No * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Bottom Sitting in Corners
