  1. No medication was ever put in. No strange markings or anything on any of the fish. Filter = AquaClear 70-gallon No water changes as of yet (have had new fish for 11 days). Fish are fed Tetra Goldfish Flakes twice a day (though it would be constantly if it were up to them!). Water temperature = 75 degrees (same as room temperature) Current pH = 7.7
  2. Technically a new tank (40-gallon) as it was completely restarted after the last of the previous fish had died. Four new small fish (a Comet and three Commons, as far as I can tell) have been put in, and were fine until today. This afternoon, one of the Commons was sitting on the bottom, breathing rapidly, indicating that it was stressed for some reason. A few hours later, it was dead. Ammonia = 0 Nitrites = 0 Nitrates = 5 pH = 8.0 (since brought down to 7.8) The other fish are still fine and are constantly DEMANDING to be fed!
  3. Weekly water changes were being done, anyway, and still are.
  4. Spot may be a bit bigger now, with a possible second spot beginning to appear on other side of fish. There is a noticeable lump on the anal fin. Also, there is noticeable white on the left eye.
  5. It's been around a week and there is no change - either in the lump itself or in the behavior of the fish.
  6. Just noticed it a few days ago. I have had the fish for a number of years.
  7. The spot appears to be smooth, is indeed white, and there is no red around it. As far as I can tell, it is not bothering the fish.

  9. Well, here's what I can provide: Ammonia level (tank) - 0.1 Nitrite level (tank) - 0 Nitrate level (tank) - 4 PH level (tank) - 7.6 Tank size - 40 gallons Size of water change - 10 gallons Fish - 3 medium-large female Commons Food - flakes, twice a day No new fish added in many years. No medications in the tank. White lump found on side 2-3 days ago, hasn't changed. Behavior is still normal.
  10. The water is changed about once a week. There are three similar sized fish in the tank. I have had them for a number of years now and they have grown a LOT.
  11. It is a small lump on her side, just above her gills. Behavior is normal. 40 Gallon Tank PH = 7.6 Ammonia = 0.1 Nitrites = 0 Nitrates = 4
  12. Opened up the fish. Not much fat, but there was some.
  13. Sadly, the Comet passed away this morning. She had not been eating well lately, if at all. She sat on the bottom a lot, but would still move around, and normally, when she wanted to. She is LOOKING better though, aside from being dead - the red has completely disappeared from her body, indicating that she was responding to the Prazi. Still red on her fins and tail. Will open her up later, and will also ask my father to test the water in the tank, which still contains a Common.
  14. Since I last posted, treatment with Prazi has begun, and the Comet may be doing better! She is showing some interest in food, and the red is looking more like orange now. However, one of the Commons is dead. The other is doing just fine, as it always has.
  15. I have asked my father to look into getting Prazi. I am also trying to convince him to start a salt treatment as well. However, Nubtail is dead. Her fins (what little she had) had turned red, and there were white lesions on her body. Her gills were possibly affected as well. Bacterial infection as a result of skin flukes? Will open her up later.
  16. Her actual back. There was already red appearing on her dorsal fin. Also, what kind of salt should I use?
  17. For the record, Nubtail is still in the main tank, everyone else is in the QT tank.
  18. I will also mention the salt and prazi treatment to him, as well. Also, should I treat the main tank, or just the QT tank the fish are currently in?
  19. Still no pictures (though I have begun talking to my father about it). However, I can tell you that the Comet is back in the QT tank, and the Commons are as well. They may be getting red along their fins as well. The Comet is getting red along her back now.
  20. Still haven't got any more pictures. As of today, the Comet is back in the main tank. She doesn't look any different, but is eating a little now. Also, her dorsal is now clamped, as was the case when she was last in the main tank. However, as I said before, her dorsal was raised normally in the QT tank. Also, I need to mention the Commons also have clamped dorsals and are bottom-sititng, however, they quite eagerly go for food. Will keep trying to get pictures.
  21. Had another look the fish. The red is more noticable on the bottom half of the tail, but is also present on the top as well. It has also appeared on some of her fins as well, more towards the back of her. It is a blood-like red.
  22. The sick fish I have had for a while. The two Commons are new. It's possible the Comet has septicemia, judging by the streaks in the base of her tail.
  23. As of this morning, more water has been added to the QT tank, and water circulation has begun. The Comet seems to be much the same. Anyone know what might be wrong with her, or is it not possible to tell without photos or a video?
