  4. Oh I know we all lose track of time - so it's totally understandable! But 5 years is going strong for a fancy goldie. Hopefully she can keep going for years and years more. My oldest is about 5 too and he's a tiny little sucka. But tough as all nails. Human interaction is always good for them as well. I wasn't trying to say you were a bad fish keeper or anything, just that she's probably a little lonely without her boyfriend.

  5. Yup your are right. hun. Got them the Xmas before. Those are the photos of the 40 Gallon tank. I have photos of Justine in front of a Bowfront tank they where in before the 40 gallon tank. The bowfront use to be in her room, until we forgot about the water change and over filled the tank. 😮 Waterfall lol

  6. You know you are partly right... I did get the dates mixed up... With 3 cats and little girl and so many other things going on I got a few years messed up. So I went back and looked at the photos. I got them in December 2016 the year after my Mother passed away. So she is 5 years old. I understand that hun. I also have been trying and thing what I could do for her, right now I can't afford another fish or the time. She is perking up alot more lately since Justine and I give her a lot more attention.

  7. I have to admit I thought 9 years seemed off! lol But I found the thread where you introduced Zedekiah and Goldfish - was in 2017 so 4 years ago!

  8. You got those two fish as babies right before I got Mary as a baby. They were tiny same as he was. Mary will be 4 around June. Fancies usually expire at 4-7 years old, with a few lucky ones outliving that and many not even making it that long. Perhaps you've lost track of time - which does happen... but there's no way that fish is 9 years old. If a goldfish is raised alone - they can thrive alone even though not ideal because they are used to it. But when raised with a tank mate that they had for years, they definitely don't tend to thrive alone. Keeping her alone when she wasn't raised alone isn't ideal and is probably why she doesn't swim or eat much. She's depressed/lonely. Their appetites don't really diminish just because they've aged. They should still eat well if healthy and in an environment where they're thriving.

  9. Here are my Shubunkins today waiting while we replace their badly leaking and dirty pool. All 4 of the smaller ones are Elizabeth's (London Shubunkin) kids. All born in the pool last year.

  11. The first time i went there... i thought id be there for 15 mins tops. Get in there pick fish, pay for them and be out. I spent more than a hour to two hours. Just chatting about fish, touring the room, getting questions answered, hearing fish anecdotes. Same thing happens every time i go there (or to any local breeders fish room for that matter) That's the thing about the hobby, get 2 hobbyists together there is so much information, so much to talk about that time flies. That's the best thing about buying fish from a local breeder ... you don't just get the fish, you get a lifetime of knowledge, you are getting the entire experience. That in addition to very high quality fish at extremely reasonable prices compared to online/big box stores.. I love this hobby!

  12. You have a very nice eye. Philadelphia veiltail from Gary Hater. I have been lucky enough to have visited his fish room a few times. Quite an experience. He is local here in cincinnati. The veiltail and the broadtail moor came from him.

  17. OK, I returned it today and the guy said it would still be alright to use. He said he will use it for the store's fish. He told me it is just a "use by date" and not an expiration date. Umm... it said on the bottle "exp 4/2020" So I'd assume "exp" stands for expiration, wouldn't you think? So then we were looking at the other fish meds in that pet store today and seen some Metroplex that I thought I would get to just have on hand for future use if needed. Well it said "exp 2019" UGH! So we didn't get it, and the guy said it was still good, but was up to us if we still wanted to buy it. Well I sure didn't buy it. SIGH! Guess I'll buy some online somewhere. For a new store, you'd think the stuff would be new unexpired stuff.
